Stopped back at the warehouse/shipyard/Railroad site.
First pic is the hulk of a wooden vessel in the mud, from the disturbed area I pulled the wooden spokes from an iron hubbed and rimmed wheel, whether from an early vehicle or maybe engine flywheel I dont know, interestin relic though,
Brass hubcap 'III Chevrolet III', this is my ninth early hubcap, can't find a year match, will post a closeup & do more research later.
the two sets of threes make me think 6 cylinder intro period 1929 & up
second pic shows oil leaking out of the ground at the base of the pier, this is happening in two areas, tried to report it at the PD, they said 'not our problem'
Any advise as to what I should do about this
It is definitely oil of some sort, it's forming a whitish emulsion with the water.
Back to Finds, Got a thick copper keel patch for the scrap pile, and a copper box that fell to pieces after/during recovery, note the button 'Feet' on pile of copper squares to the right of wheel spokes.
left the mud and searched the warehouse area, 1875 and 1903 IH Cents, Floral sash buckle, barrel tap key (I think, it's rather thin) odd lead seal, tongue went through hole and was meltsealed.
was surprised to find what I thought was a cookie on dry land, hot/cold treatment had no effect, aluminum jelly got some of the stuff off, turns out to be a Barber Dime.
IMO, one of the ugliest US coin issues, now that it's been through a fire and had sand melted into it, it looks like an ancient Roman

'Rochester' part, I think it's a distributer rotor, maybe for whatsit, I'm familiar with rochester carbs, but not electrical components.
Everything found here so far is turn of the century, (Oh yeah, I did get that tombac yesterday) but I am just clearing the surface now, I'm sure the oldies are deeper.
I'll be back there today, it is a large area to cover and I've only scratched the surface.
