Antique Powder Compact @ CT 1690's House...

Hey guys, went up to my uncles house recently before he goes to wyoming for some military training (hes in the SF). Hung out with him then decided to do some detecting at his house. I couldn't wait cause it was the 2nd oldest house in east lyme CT, circa 1690's, we detected for about about 30-45 mins. and found this compact and two 1944 wheaties. + some foil and other trash, he was tired and I decided to let him alone so he could spend some time with his wife before he shipped off to wyoming.

It'd be great if someone could gimme some info on this compact. Theres some words on that little powder thing, I think it says "Hygienol Veni-Flat" I'm 80% sure...

thanks guy. = D

I'm thinking 1938-45.

Yeah, I have found a few compacts but nothing like that one! That is so cool. I would say 1920-1935 maybe. (Is what I meant to post) It looks like a few art deco Items I have found in the past from the 20s.

I'm wondering.. This looks to me like it was part of a set, you know, mirror, hairbrush, etc. it sorta has the same shape. The set I have is brass plated copper. I don't have pics of my set, but mine is from the 1920's. Unusual find. Not GE

Yeah, I've been told that it looks 1920's too.

The profile or whatever looks, 20ish to me for some reason. Thanks for the comments guys.. more speculation would be great!!

Judging from the lady on the powder puff, looks like the Roaring 20's. I haven't been able to find anything, but leave it to Gypsy she'll find something.

This epitomizes the art deco style. I would date this between 1924-35. No later. I would bet that it hails from the 20's, byt the distinct deco styling.

Was this dug up in the ground??

Nice dig. I would have to agree with those that posted the 1920's The "flapper" is from that era.

Yeah, it was 4-5 inches down, somehow the rain didn't get inside and ruin it...

I also haven't tried to clean it really. Just got some of the dirt off.

Think if I put it on eBay it might sell?

hehe.
