There is a swimming area at Big Ridge Park on highway 61,it may be a state park though ,don't remember.

Norris Lake is a TVA lake,a permit is needed from TVA to metal detect on their property.
Google TVA metal detecting permit, the application is printable. They are very strict about where you can metal detect.

also you can't detect anywhere in State Park's in Tn! so if the beach is in a state park you are out of luck! i dont know about Norris Lake Beach's i think they are in State Parks.

I contacted Big Ridge a while back and got a big fat no from them. It is a state park and that's why the declined. I made a big haul there years ago when they drained the lake to repair the dam. Thought I would try it again but no such luck....Happy hunting to all,
