T-Net Crew,

Any ideas on what this could be (other than just a rock)?

Again, just a weathered stone. Do a search for Stone Tools on here and you will find several posts that will help you determine what is and isn't a true stone altered by man. Monsterack has a post at the top as well to show you the manufacture of Stone Tools. Check some of these out.

Thanks Grim. What got my hopes up was the number of pictures on the internet claiming that similar rocks were used for "sanding." Again, you've crushed my dream! LOL!

Hey RamRod
I see you are over in Murfreesboro,tn. Stones river is an ancient river that runs through town there to the dam it is all cut limestone with much ancient habitation. Look for flint. You are also close to Duck river then go a few miles and you have Flint River over towards Decherd,Tn. I have hunted all these rivers with success first time out. Lots of farm fields along creek towards Monteagle holds artifacts just make sure you get permission before stepping off the road.
Keep at it and good luck.
