Looks like to me some ornamental piece. It's about 2.5 inches.
Stamped 1968 and has a diamond shape with the letters JB . Looks like brass or bronze.

Looks like drawer pull hardware.

I agree. Looks like a back plate for a drawer pull.

Yes, it does look like a back plate to a drawer pull, but 2 1/2 inches is too large for the 'average' size hardware. I'm thinking it could be part of a larger ornamental piece like a door knocker.
