That's the problem, the coin is so worn, that is actually what is looks like. The side pictured has a lion in the center, three paws on the platform, there appears to be a wreath around the edge, and a crown at the top. It is very similar to an Iranian 1/2 reale, but there are noticeable differences. I can't make out anything on the opposite side of the coin, however, there is a wreath around that edge as well.

I still think it's more likely an Iranian coin, maybe a 2 dinars , with many of the details worn away.

I was able to see most of the date, and it appears to be c. 1322. That can't be right can it? I certainly doesn't look like a 9 or even an 8 however.

A Persian calendar date of 1322 would be the same as our year 1943.
