I am in Iowa on business and got a chance to detect an old farm house this afternoon. I appologize for not having a picture yet. I found a Knights Templar Belt Plate. Its about 4" tall and 2" wide, on the bottom front it says IN HOC SIGNO VINCES and has a big cross in the middle. I have searched all over the internet for a picture of it and can't find one so I guess I have something unique. I am going to walmart in a minute to get a cord for my camera so I can down load the pics but couldn't wait to post. Let me know if any of you knows anthing about this.

Thanks!

I've checked everywhere I can think of and can't find one that looks like that one. If I was guessing I would say it probably had something to do with a local fraternity or local masons..but have no idea the age...It looks pretty old. GL on finding information on it and if you do..let us know.

In Hoc Signo Vinces - By This Sign You Will Conquer...

It is the standard phrase associated with the Knights Templar.

This is what the Emperor Constantine supposedly heard in his dream before a great battle back in the 4th century A.D. As a result of the dream, he had all his soldiers use the cross as an emblem on their shields, and his army slaughtered the heck out of the opposing forces.

Do not recall other details, but the history of Christianity, as well as the Knights Templar and so forth are things I have been studying for over 25 years.

Other than that, I know nothing about that particular plate.

Neat find though!
