Any Meteorites ever found in NY state?

Have there been any recorded finds in NY state?I live in western NY and would enjoy hunting for them if there's any chance of finding them in my area.Any info would be great.Thanks

Meteorites have no certain point on earth to hit,you might find one laying in your car seat in the morning with a hole through the roof..And yes that would be a payday for you..

12 Official finds in New York. Go to Meteoritical Bulletin: Search the Database and select "places" for the search criteria followed by "New York" in the search box. 12 hits will be returned.

If you are really serious about finding your very own piece of the primordial universe, consider going to look at known strewn fields that have large amounts of recorded finds. Two suggestions... Try Gold Basin in AZ, near Lake Mead. Thousands of pieces found there. Or on one of the dried-up lake beds in NV. ANY rocks on dried lake beds in NV need to be scrutinized as possible space rocks. Ok, these areas are not in NY but you may have to look for YEARS in "general" areas before a find is made. Up your chances considerably by going to a known strewn field. TTC

Remember the show "Meteorite Men"? I believe this is one of the SECRET lake beds they found some meteorites on in NV. I may be mistaken as many of those lakes look alike. I DID have it pegged right after the airing and believe this is it. You need to drive back and forth on a motorcycle or atv till you see something. TTC
