I seem to recall that someone found a Hobo Nickel, however, cannot find the site which may have been purged to free up server space.

There are any number of coin denominations that have been recarved and referenced as hobo nickels...

Its possible that 'Love Tokens' and 'Hobo Nickels' are related historically as coin art.

Here are some hobo nickels from my collection demonstrating varied characters and subjects...

Actually the first 4 are originals and demonstrate real carving talent...

The latter ones were etched using lasers...

The skeleton coin by a known carver may have an opening auction bid around $500 and go up from there...

Other old-tyme carvers have been known to sell around $10K +

Yep ---found one not detecting---going through nickel rolls--didn't know what it was for quite awhile--then found out about hobo nickels some time later.
