Re: are these meteors?

The one on the left could possibly be. The one on the right almost certainly is not. It has gas pockets and stuff, which is something that meteorites do not have, but iron slags do.

On the left one, is there any glassy material anywhere on its surface?

Re: are these meteors?

Ironfoot, meteors are what fly in the sky, when and if they reach the earths surface then they are called meteorites.
A better photo would be nessessary to TRY to say if the left one is a meteorite and even then a picture cannot always identify one.
Try a streak test on it.

i thought the right one would probably be just slag or something like that.
the left one when you look close at it, it does have very small speckles on the surface. i have gridded the edge of the stone . i will take some better pictures tomorrow in the better daylight.
ps. i have corrected the title.....LOL

Hi Guys,
The one on the right is slag. The give-away is that meteorites don't have air bubbles or vesicles. The one on the left, could be that grainy on the inside, not the outside. Also, where you have ground a window into it, there are no blebs of metal, chondrules, or any inclusions showing.
Good Hunting, Ben
