I just moved from High Point NC to Madison Alabama. I'm interested in looking for arrowheads and I'm not familiar with this area. I have found many points in East Tennessee digging under overhangs and searching plowed fields back in the 70's, 80's and 90's. Is it legal to look along the Tennessee river bank in the Huntsville area? I would appreciate any input.

The Tenn. river is under some very tight laws on hunting artifacts, best for you to check with a local ranger/game warden. There should be a lot of crop planting in that area, I would introduce myself to some farmers, go to a local museum and check out any articles online with the U of Al. you are in a very good artifact area, just poke around some, good luck:occasion14:

Lots of nice colored stone in your area if there is flint depends on which section you are in. If its the northern side of the state it might be quartz. But either way plenty to be found from what I understand. The town name sounds like a point name to me.
