Hello friends,

John found an hour to detect today in the Rev War area on his property. He found a nice thimble, another tiny buckle, a pretty cool old key, and some sort of decorative and very delicate leaf-design "thing." ;-). Our one item that we have a question on is the long rectangular piece. We assume it is some type of buckle? Any thoughts? Hope you all had a great day. Enjoy your weekend and thanks for looking. -Lisa & John

Thanks, Port! Interesting--our first horse tack cinch. It'll be neat to put all our horse tack items together in a display some day. Take care, -L&J

Excellent finds, and I believe that is a railroad switch key. I have found a couple of them. It could be marked with letters indicating what rail line it was used on.

J, how cool about the key! I'll be visiting John this weekend, so I'll see if I can clean it up and look for any lettering or marks it may have. Thanks! -L&J

Niiiiiice...more great relics! I'm on a nice dry spell Lisa..but something tells me that's going to change this weekend, I got TWO new permissions...one Sat and another scheduled Sunday...an old 1850 hotel and an early 1900 house...thx for sharing! Ddf

Lisa that key is a great little relic! When you get there drag John out for at least 4 hours. I want to see a nice long hunt from that site

Thanks, ddf. We'll look forward to your post after your exciting hunts! John's house used to be a stagecoach tavern, so I bet your old hotel permission will yield some interesting goodies. Hope you have a blast. -L&J

Haha, thanks, Abe. I already told John I want to go down in the "pit." There is this area that is surrounded by an old stone boundary, and it goes into a steep gulley maybe 15' feet. Maybe it's a trash pit? Dunno, but I keep telling John I want to go down in there. Some rain is expected Sunday, so hopefully we'll get some detecting time in. Until then...HH! -L&J

Love the old metal design with leaves on it. I've found everything you have found in your pictures. I also found [I think] a old shed in the middle of a field. Stuff was kept their for a shorter walk. Boy the made some cool stuff back in the day. I can just see how beautiful things were back then. Now days it's plastic. We must be crazy finding this stuff. But we do it and even get excited finding a old key. So if you have any modern day keys. Throw them in the woods for future people detecting. Maybe have a hoard of them in one spot. When their found. They'll wonder what was up. Ha Ha

Hi Frankie, wow--cool that you have found the same items! Yeah, we should bury a Sony Walkman or something, lol! Thanks, L&J

Congrats on pulling those cool relics. :occasion14: I particularly like the thimble and Key.

Thanks, Loco! Tried to clean up that key this weekend to reveal some lettering, but I just can't get all that green crust off! -L&J
