Got to try out the new detector that Santa brought me. Nothing big, but found a few things in the backyard. Only dug up one nail - was using the zero mode just to hear what iron sounds like. Four of the pennies are wheat - hard to make out dates but one is 1933 I think. One of the belt buckles has the word mustang on it. The interesting one is the medallion - says comet on the front and made in England on the back.
Was a lot of fun and my 8 year old son was assisting.

2 buckles, 7 pennies, small button, medallion of some sort, ducocement tube, piece of metal

Welcome to the club:newbie:
Your spoiled already starting out with a pro-pointer. It made the hobby so much easier.
The comet fob should be interesting. Post what you find on it.

That's a good first hunt // keep the 8 yr old in it he will love it/// Perry

Congrats!!
the medallion looks like a key ring with the leather strap and loop missing.

the AT Pro is a Great machine!!
getting to know the tones and what the machine is telling you is a must.
after you feel comfortable with your machine I would recommend running it in "pro zero" mode.
in pro zero you will be able to hear good targets that would normally be hidden by bad targets.
the ATP shines at target separation!!
if you set your dis. at 27+ you should not have a problem with nails, wire and other unwanted objects.
best of luck and Happy Hunting!! Cletus

Welcome to your new addiction. You are getting a great start and with a wonderful digging partner. Looking forward to your next finds. Good Luck and Happy Hunting

Thanks everyone - I did quite a bit research before purchasing. I was originally looking at an ac 250, but I figured if I could swing the at pro I could grow into the more advanced settings and the money would be well spent in what the at pro offered vs the ac250. It is a fun hobby that both my son and I can enjoy. I am amazed at how easy it is to use in std mode. I will try the pro mode next time out.

I'd say a big success if this was your first time out! Congrats!

Comet fob is from a Mercury comet key chain

Found on the inter webs

Holy moly! This is addicting. I had a little time this afternoon before the sun set. Was using pro mode/zero to get use to sounds. Found this circular weight? (Not sure what it is). Has Eppinger and Russell Co 165 Broadway Ny Creosoting and yellow pine lumber on one side - the other side has Creosoting Works - Jacksonville Fla - Long Island City NY. I am thinking it was a desk weight. It doesn't seem to open up

Post that in "What Is It" with something to size it next to it.
It's at least 100 yrs old.

Thanks Rick just posted some better pics over there
