You are correct. I was getting a constant 82-83 but it was jumping between high and mid tones. Don't know why.

It's almost like that any signal below 4-5 inches you just gotta dig and hope for the best.

No rained alot the last few days. Ground very moist but not muddy, and no not baiting anyone. Just trying to understand the AT Pro. Bought it as a backup to my Etrac and trying to understand it.

You can't compare the more expensive Etrac with many frequencies against what ever the ATP does or doesn't do.

I can understand that and so far I think the Pro is a nice machine. Just trying to find out if I can rely on the vdi or should I just dig everything that is repeatable and is a mid or high tone.

If you are referring to the differences sometimes with the vid number and what you are hearing in the headphones, I have had that happen on occasion as well. I try and use the numbers as a rough estimate and rely more in what I hear! I get that scenario also when hunting in trashy or semi virgin areas when several targets are under the coil, commonly a clad quarter and a zincoln or two in close proximity-- I only use the stock coil on pro zero as well! Just about any problem I have had personally with this machine has undoubtedly been operator error! I find the more time I spend swingin 'er the more I understand what she's tryin to tell me! Couldn't be happier with my results thus far!

Interesting // I get 83-85 on a quarter (clad) almost every where and any depth-- I have always felt they build all detectors using the quarter as a base// Perry
