Hi all,
Went back to the foundation near my house yesterday.
The only way to search here with the Safari is all metal, scan with the mind numbing 'Wom Wom Wom' of continuous iron waiting for that occasional 'Cheep'.
the entire lot is filled with iron, I think the house and outbuilding had metal roofs.
Of course I got iron, clothes iron trivet, heelplates, axe, wedge, and the odd 4 holed item in center of photo, anyone recognise this ?? :help:
Padlock, stamped '4' on shackle.
Then 2 Bridle rosettes, or some kind of harness decos, one looks like a 'Chain Cent' design .
cool fox sporting button, backmark '*Sporting*Extra Quality'
suspender clip, pocketwatch bezel, and some shell bases, 2 #10s, a .410, and a 'UMC Union # 12' with star primer.
Also spotted a coral mushroom, two species are quite similar, one delicious, one poison, I left this one alone
Where are all the coins :dontknow:
Thanks for looking HH to you all!

Pretty good diggin there, hopefully you had all that water on hand, it was starting to get warm when I left. There's gotta be more there and I'm sure you will eventually find it.

Hi Herbie!

Very interesting finds there buddy; I love digging old iron! ;D

The iron holder trivet and the padlock are really cool! 8)

I bet those coins you're looking for are still buried under all that scrap iron! :laughing7:

Best to you man,
Dave

Thanks everyone!
Apologies for the delay on that question Romeo,
'Enterprise Mfg Co Philadelphia'
Appreciate the answer allan,
Shark27, I generally just water rinse and maybe light toothbrush flicking,
I have degraded too many finds in my early 'cleaning' attempts :-[
The shell bases got a thumbrubbing after their rinse
the soil at this site seems pretty kind.
Been tied up with my truck again ::)
In & out of the shop..
Was happy to get a loaner car & do some hunting,
I could have gone to work, but
Pete, thanks for that site! great resource.
not too often I get 2 #10's in one hunt...
Mike, Minelab called, I'm getting a new Etrac! Talk about a great company, their machines and your service are second to none!
Thanks for all your help. Woodlanddetectors is the Greatest! :hello2:
Thanks for looking & HH to All

That lock is real nice. I also like the fox button. I'd like to see what it was on. Probably a nice red coat for sporting.
Nice stuff.

Thanks Littlebill,
I got a ride home from the repair shop from a lifelong local mechanic, chatted about the hobby and used those exact words to describe that button.
I was rewarded with what sounds like the best site tip I've gotten.
he gave me the exact location of what he described as an area with at least half a dozen foundations, and no roads...
He described playing there as a child in the 70s, says he never saw anyone hunting the area, he still lives somewhat nearby....
Gave me the address of the property owner,
and told me to tell him 'he' sent me :hello2:
HH to you !

1/2 dozen foundations ? I can see the upcoming posts already. When that new E-trac comes in, tear em up! I'll be waiting to see your results!
