Hummmm Maybe he's learning to be secretive about his mining activities like a lot of the guys on here. He is in Cali after all and might be afraid he'll get busted for disturbing the habitat of the California green eyed yellow throat desert hamster.

Sorry i didn't respond sooner. Number one we dont get enough gold to need to keep it a secret hahaha. Second we don't really need to worry about the habitat of the green eyed yellow throated desert hamster.

First we drove to Hinkley Then we drove out and got to the claim but someone was in Kens hole so we were stuck working a hole that was full of volcanic ash. We were stuck getting minimal until noon. Then they finally left and then we moved our stuff over to his hole and got to work, but one of his drywashers went out so we only were able to run one. After that We worked it until about 3:00 then his brother had to leave so ken gave us about 25 gallons of dirt and some cons from his drywasher packed up our stuff and left with some gold the 3 boys and I panned. It was over all a good day. I had a good time.

(PS if you want to bug my dad his name on tnet is Failed to find)

Good gold there Alex. I see some egg on it, though. You BAKE it with Momma's waffle iron or the one daddy bought to replace hers with? Hmmm? TTC

And from the 25 gallons of dirt we got about 5 times the amount of gold than from the cons of kens drywashers.

My point is kens drywashers are missing a lot of gold

Really? Alex, ya know the hole you called "Ken's hole"?

Ken and I got decent gold from there the day WE (I was there) started
it. A few days later I dug quite a bit more in that same hole. I also brought
7 bucketfulls of that same material home to Washington with me. Made a
thread about working it all down:

http://www.treasurenet.com/forums/panning-gold/390567-7-buckets.html

Got almost nothing from those 7 buckets.

The dirt you guys were working was still moist from the Thanksgiving rains,
and unless you guys ran it all twice odds are some gold was left in the
tailings. I've seen Ken's drywasher catch gold down to #200 mesh (really,
really small stuff), and he knows how to operate it.

Point being, you and your dad brought home dirt that held good gold,
but that doesn't mean Ken's drywasher missed any. It could very well
be that the dirt Ken gave you to bring home had much more gold in it
than the dirt that was being run out in the field.

Gold is where you find it Alex, and always remember that just because
it wasn't in one scoop of dirt doesn't mean the next scoop won't hold
a good amount.

Also, thanks for the story, as I really wanted to hear what you
thought about being out on the claim. Glad to know you had a
good time, and hopefully you and your dad can go back out
there again when Ken has time.

Alex,

I've heard that you were out prospecting today...how'd ya do?

And yes, it's OK to talk about that spot as it belongs to a club. We
need to hear the details though...can you share with us how it all
went? (and not in just 2 words...we want the whole story!)

Mike
So funny you notice his 2 word answers lol drives me crazy!!!

Thanks for reminding him, it's always good for him to hear these things from people other than mom and dad.
Alex should know from the time at the kern that one bucket gets you nothing while the next gets you smiling, I think what he MEANT to say was "I had an awesome time with Mr. Ken playing with his nephews guns and finding gold, learning and seeing what a dry washer is/does and by the way, Mr.Ken gave us some awesome dirt to take home!!!! Just cause we always think our equipment failed us, doesn't mean it's true. We often think what if it wasn't level and we lost gold? What if the top came out of the water? Etc etc etc. but we are beginners....Ken has years on our knowledge, out digging dirt, etc. what a true blessing he was!! I'm know it was a highlight of his life he will likely never forget!! He came home thrilled with his day. And woke up very sore the next day :)
