if you wanted to get a book signed by the author, how do you want it autographed?to you? or just his or her name?whats the best way to go or does it even matter?
I'm an autograph dealer, and most buyers prefer signature only - no dedication. Signature with a generic phrase is okay too (Bob Hope often signed "Thanks for the memories, Bob Hope", for example).
If you'll never sell the book, and if the author is not famous, then having him dedicate it to you by name is great - it will impress your friends and relatives, anyway.
