Hello Forum,

I found a few axe heads recently, and I’m considering doing some restoration. So far, I’ve washed them and soaked them in vinegar. I’ve started to file them and I’ve sprayed them with penetrating oil. I think they are pretty old. Any ID, or restoration suggestions are welcomed. Thanks for looking.

I'm not sure sure about any of them. I know I found one under my house that looks like that bottom one. Even smashed over a little just like yours.

You're fileing them, as putting an edge on them? I never do that to the ones I find, but they're yours, so file away. I clean mine with electrolysis, spray with WD-40, then when it's dry, coat with lacquer.

Thanks everyone. I think the top left one is from the early 1800’s
