[B]semi modern ink well ?[/B]

i found this yesterday near an old cellar hole along the connecticut river only that it doesnt seem to be that old. im almost positive its an ink well i just cant date it anyone know? the only mark is a 4oz on the side and a single B on the bottom
the bullets i found on a beach in cape cod i think they were from a machine gun they were connected with clasps but fell apart when i pick them up, the beach was used during ww2 for training.
