SORRY I HAD TO USE ANOTHER CAMERA TO GET THE PHOTO, AGAIN I FOUND THIS ON THE SHORE LINE OF YORKTOWN, VA. I WORK ON A TUGBOAT AND WHEN I GET TO A GOOD PLACE " I GO A WALKIN" I HAVE FOUND A LOT OF GOOD THINGS I WILL GET THEM UP ON THE FORUM IN WEEKS TO COME. I HAVE A CREW MEMBER ON BOARD THAT OWNS A HOUSE THAT DATES BACK TO 1860 WITH A DIRT BASEMENT I HAVE MY DETECTOR WITH ME HOPING WE GET TO DELAWARE. HE TOLD ME TO HELP MYSELF. I CANT WAIT!!!!!!

If you found that at Yorktown on the beach, probably a whale's vertebrae. Miocene era maybe 4 to 15 million years old possibly a little more. There's much older fossil shells on some of the Rev War trenches (I'm assuming source is local but never ran it to ground) and some marl in the area - in fact a church made of marl. Never know what you'll find on those beaches.
