After having health issues with my back and weeks in Hospital/Rehab i'm going to paint the fields red again. :laughing7:
This weekend it was the field next to a roman site. Not much to expect but one of the rare fields able to dig because of the drought we had this summer. The soil here turns to concrete when dry....
Anyway, here we go!

The trash

The musket and pistol balls

Buckles and drawer pull. (pic made with a little help from a friend)

Coin trash

Buttons

Finds i like. Medieval buckle, half of a roman As, roman phallic pendant, head of a roman bronze nail and two whatzit's with gold gilt left.

This is what's left of a silver Denarius(?) with iron core after 1800 years. Help from Crudad welcome! :notworthy:

And the fun find of the day, medal of the Fried Fish Celebration in Worms. :icon_scratch:

Great to see you back in the fields! By the number of targets, it appears the operation was a resounding success! The silver Denarius? is nice, hope Cru can nail it down. Thx for sharing, Ddf.

They give a strong signal with a high pitch. Easy to ID because they are so big. The driving band fragments are worse. Sound and size is close to a coin signal.
Yesterday i gave about 100lbs in WWII brass to the scrap dealer. Thousands of holes dug for them in the last two years.

We hoped the roman coin scatter was further into this field because pottery and roof tile fragments did. Less coins than expected but with two Denarii a great bronze to silver ratio. My buddy dug a beautiful Denarius of Tiberius.

Welcome back to the real world, glad to hear your well enough to dig.
What does the coin look like on the reverse and what size is it?
Our impression is;
Never seen an iron core imitation, but that must be what it is. Rare?
At this point we are saying NOT Roman, Celtic looking.
Maybe wild boar being speared.

Thanks Cru! Never seen this iron core coins before myself, this year i dug two of them! After soaking a bit with the motive more visible my thoughts were going celtic too. Diameter is about 18mm.

Here is a better pic after some cleaning. Boar is now confirmed with the tusk. Left is the iron filled Denarius i dug in spring.

Unfortunately the reverse is shot. You can read C(?) N T in the circle.
