Neat stuff. The bullet looks modern. ( not Civil War ) to me that is. WTG on the silver!

well i know its not civil war due to us being too far north ive just never seen a 2 groove bullet like that 2 of the pennies turned out to be wheats a 1942 and a 1910 both are in pretty bad shape even after two peroxide baths they are soaking in olive oil for the night i guess its possible the bullet could be a modern black powder but this beach club has existed since 1962 and before that im pretty sure it was a railroad depot spot i havent found the spot the depot was in but i found a few smashed pennies one possibly a wheat that were in about the same area as the bullet

If you are worried about the old corroded live round...you could use a "bullet puller" to get the bullet out...then dump the powder out. With any luck, you may be able to squeeze the bullet back in there and it would be virtually harmless. Just an idea.

Can you tell what kind of cartridge it is? Looks like a 30-30 (30 WCF) or possibly a 32 Winchester Special.
