:hello:

Wel went back to the big stubble field were I got my first hammered of the new year :headbang: none today but still managed a Silver coin :laughing9:

The buttons are still coming from this field 8) and they helped save the day really :-\ not really to much to show for four hours, but was well pleased with a couple of the buttons :) especially the sporting one with the dog and bird in it's mouth, and the Georgian Silver plated one :o  also found a pewter medal, which I think I will post in the whatsits thread, I can see a crowned figure, and another faint figure next to it :dontknow:

I think that was well worth the effort, Georgian Military Button, nice hunting types, early flower one, plus a bonus Military badge thing. Its an early one as well with a Vicky Crown, plus I have seen the rose before, just can't remember the regiment (I want to say Hertfordshire :dontknow: )

Re: Back to the Button Field

Cool finds...your mystery corroded piece is an Elizabeth II coronation medal...they gave these away to school kids over here and probably did over there too!

Similar to this one. Usually made of cheap pot metal.

Outstanding buttons. To me at least I think this post should make the banner with finds like that. That last photo is really neat.

Thanks for the reply Romeo...... I think it's a Coranation medal of EdwardV11 and Queen Alexandra, but a cheap one like you say made of pot metal or pewter

Oh, yeah I can read it now you said. It didn't cross my mind because the Police only started in the late Victorian period, so you have a really early piece at the start of it all :icon_thumright:
