Back to the Field for 3.5hrs. – 1857 Penny, Bronze Horse Buckle & 6 more IC Loops!

I figured that today was probably going to be my last hunt of the season, as the temps are forecast to drop below freezing starting tomorrow. I think my wife has been extremely understanding in letting me detect so much over the past 5 days, just don’t tell her I said that! :laughing7:

The finds from today… an 1857 One Penny Token, 2 Flat buttons, 1 Brass & 1 Bronze Horse Buckle, 6 Isaac Campbell Loops, Clock Winder Key & 2 Golf Balls!
Thanks for looking again and again and again! :occasion14:

Dave

Great day out Dave time wise and for finds also, always liked the George slaying the dragon on the one penny tokens. Looks like this might be it for the season looking at the -temps. and it looks like a lot of them coming on now.

No way! I found the same 1857 token Sunday. I have it soaking in olive oil right now to see if I can pick off a little more detail. Thought for sure it was an LC, I had to do some searching online to figure out what exactly I had. Nice hunt!

I found that same large horse buckle last week. Mine also had the center part rusted but not the frame. Someone said 1890-1910 era.

Nice finds

George

December 28 was definitely the last day I got out Jim.
Not likely we'll see mild weather like that again till the spring. :dontknow:

Thanks for your post cjon!
My final 'Isaac Campbell Loop' count found in 2014 at this site stands at 63!
Maybe next year I'll change things up a bit and find a 'hook' for one of these loops! :laughing7:

I hear you about the condition on these being lousy Rob!
I've found 4 of these here in Ontario in the past 4 years and they've all been rough.

Though I'd probably look pretty rough if I'd been pee'd on by farm animals for the past 140 years too! :laughing7:

Thanks for your post George.
Yeah, the date of the longer brass buckle is from that period, the 'bronze coloured' buckle with the remnants of silver-plate is likely c.1860 -70.

Best of luck to you buddy,
Dave

Awesome finds as usual! Congrats!

You have cornered the buckle market! I like the winding key that's a large sized one!
It's great you got some last hunts in before the white stuff buries all.
