Got back to the old zoo where I found my walker and a nice token on Sunday, today didn't disappoint either. First good hit was the token from Sweetwater Tx, the other token from Sunday was from Cal. I haven't had a chance to research the one I found today. The slick looking thing is a quarter that looks like it had been put on the railroad track which run beside the zoo. I was running the 6" coil on the CTX, the ground is polluted with iron tones on every swing when I got a nice high, out pops a rosie from 6" surrounded by iron, I love that small coil. The V-nickle was an eyeball find, sitting right on top of the ground, that makes 1-V and 2 silvers I've found here on top of the ground. They must have moved the dirt around in this location because the rosie wasn't that far from where I found the nickle. not sure what the other 2 things are, the ball rang up as 12-44, but, is way too light for silver, the blob rang up at 12-39, and could be silver, just not certain. I had to hunt faster than I wanted because of time constraints, but, I'll be back!!

Awesome stuff! Are you finding this in the old caged areas? I would think people would throw coins at the animals?

No, these are in the open areas, a buddy of mine got to hunt inside one of the cages years ago, it was a gold mine in old coins he said

The ZOO has been very good to you. Is the smashed quarter clad or silver? I have dug a smashed penny from the rails once. I used to enjoy taping pennies to the ICRR back in the 60's. Nice hunting once again.:icon_thumright:

This zoo has been giving up the goods since I started hunting it in 1999, it comes in spurts for some reason :) The quarter is clad(boo), that's ok, always neat to find oddball stuff.

Wow, talk about never hunted out. That's a lot of time at that site. Congrats on continuing to pull them out! And good ones too! :notworthy:
