When the prices were good a few months ago I had to beat off the competition with a tyre lever.
Now I can take my time and happily scavenge amongst the mountains of scrap and rubbish left alone
by the greedy many who wanted a quick buck.
In other words , prices are low but volume is high.
Of course storage between yard trips is a problem for ferrous but non-ferrous is ok.

Was talking to my yard on Friday, a lot of the small time peddlars who don't go the yard often are often taken aback at how little they are getting. With the price of fuel etc, it doesn't make economic sense to put $50 in your truck only to make $10.00 in scrap tin if that. Just the other day I picked up a pair of Pioneer speakers in front of a place I know and one of the homeless people from downtown came out of nowhere feverishly trying to cut all the wires off stuff.

Didn't have the heart to tell him for the moment he is wasting his time...

Homeless people do have a huge storage and transport problem.
Of course some live in their vehicle but that doesn't leave room for much else.

But I'm sure they will find something else to feed their habit; they allways do.
