Greensboro... I hear ya...

I use T handles... Lesche shovels. (Predator Tools)

I got to use a ball handle in Philly over the summer. The ball fits nicely into the palm of your hand when pushing down, and you can move your hand around nicely on the ball. However, after many holes, that ball had my palm hurting.

For me the T is just easier to use. I am old and that ball just hurt my hand.

Best of luck to you!

I like a serrated triple fold with case for easy carrying.

I use the t handle and like it very much. The t handle is also handy for hooking brush and limbs to pull out of the way in thick country.

About 7-years ago, I needed a Lesche shovel for an MD'ing trip and the only one available at this moments notice was the ball-headed variety. If I had the time I would have waited for the "T" handle one.
Don't get me wrong, I like the one that I have but when you're digging through midwest frost in the early spring, the "T" handle would be the way to go.

YAY! I picked up a T handle Lesche with a serrated edge for those pesky roots. Its 31 inches and looks like its going to be my new best friend. Now...any ideas on how to carry this thing with all my other tools? Lets see one metal detector, one shovel, one electronic pin pointer one small knife for shallow holes one blunt ice pick for Old school pin pointing and a finds pouch. Did i miss anything?

Check this outhttp://www.treasurenet.com/forums/tool-shed/447468-pvc-t-handle-belt-holder.html

I made one just like it and it works well, all though I usually just carry it my hand.

Yep. The op had a great idea. When I made mine, I made it tight enough that the handle would snap in and out and not bounce out while I was walking.

I have a T Handle Lesche, one of the best investments that I ever made.

Weld, zip tie, or clamp 2 sling swivels to that bad boy one towards each end and run a nice milsurp leather sling :)

And my vote is in for a T handle as well. That's what I use.

I use a ball handle raven..made by predator tools ..made in NJ . I love it. But I guess it's what you get use to using. This shovel is tuff as nails. Digging through 4 inches of frozen dirt ..sharp root cutters on the edges. . I think the ball may allow faster plug cutting.
