Bank Teller Call

The teller at my dump bank will call me when coin counter bags get full to ask if I want them. I think it's the little boxes of chocolates I sometimes bring that they like so much

Got a call this morning, the penny bag was full, and she said she also had a treat for me. I drove there to pick up the bag of pennies, and she spread out some silver and liberty nickels on the counter for me to look at. She said an elderly lady had come in yesterday to cash in some of her late husbands coins. Instead of dumping them in the coin counter as usual, the teller saved them for me.

Barbers, 1 of each.

Edit: Added pics of the Barbers and the Standing Liberties. Will have to post a reply with the V nickels, too many pictures for one post.

Nice score, but the air-tites are unnecessary. By the way, the "Walking Liberty" qtrs are referred to as SLQ's Standing Liberty Quarters. Liberty only walked on the half (and ASE).

I tell you Bob... that needs a gift card for lunch. Very nice finds. Some poor guys collection ended up in a bank. Glad you rescued them. Do not see many SL quarters or V nickels. HH Doug

I buy the Air-Tites by the 250 count box, so I don't mind wasting some on junk silver finds. Besides, if I ever did need to re-use them on other coins they are easy enough to remove.

I called them WL quarters because if you look at her she has one foot lifted like she's walking. If she was just standing then both feet should be down. These are a first for my quarters collection, as all I've ever found before has been old Washingtons. I'll correct the post.

That really sucks. Are they going to be able to get your next box order in ok?

I was only able to get 2 boxes towards the end of last week because another customer bought the other 2 boxes. That was the guy that paid mostly in rerolled dumps halves. I had to buy his dumps to clear vault space so she would be able to order 4 more boxes on Monday, otherwise she would only order 2 boxes at a time until the dumps were gone from her vault. Dunno why I keep bothering with boxes, they've been skunks for silver the last 13 boxes in a row. I do so much better with CWR's and loose halves.

Call them what you want. I understand what it appears to the layperson, but a numismatist won't know what you are talking about. Just trying to help out.

you need to buy that teller a new car. Nice haul, hard to get decent slq's with a visible date.

Don't feel bad, i've had I think it was 26 straight skunk boxes once a couple years ago. I still average 4-5 skunks in a row, but I still keep pecking along. And yes, my boxes are supposed to be here this week. I've never had a problem before at this bank. That's why she called, to make sure I didn't waste the trip to pick them up. Nice lady.
