My second hunt today with the Minelab CTX 3030, a hot and sticky day today here in New York.

The only significant find is a nice 1908 barber dime.

I'm still trying to get used to the Minelab dual number target IDs. Tried my own custom program today with a lot of discrimination for finding coins only in trashy areas.

Enjoy the photos no pictures of clad and junk today, had to escape a thunderstorm that came up on me quickly.

Good luck this weekend everyone !

That's a sweet little dime you got there. I have watched videos of guys using the minelab machines and the two numbers confuse the heck out of me....

I’ve used about all modern ones but right now: CTX 3030, White’s MXT Pro, XP Deus, Vaquero, White’s TRX

I wished I had that kind of luck today.

If you ground balance correctly and run the same program and set-up the target IDs are pretty accurate. When I hit a silver dime they will run about 12.44 or so. A clad dime will run the same and a penny will run 12.42. A quarter will hit around 12.46. It is just hard to tell if it is a clad or silver coin. There is a trick that Dr. Tones does where he holds the pinpoint button down and does a 90 degree swing and the numbers will jump up to the 13s' I have done this on occasion and I have guessed correctly when I hit silver. A penny that seems to be running a little high will drop sometimes down to the 11s' when you do this trick.

Nice find and yes, the humidity was brutal yesterday. Met a couple of friends to detect at 6:30 and by 7:00 we were soaked in sweat. It was easily one of the worst days of the summer. Can't decide if you had a "sweet" find or a "sweat" find.

Your number Ids are the same as what I was getting. I was doing that 90degree swing and noticed the 13.46 changed to 12.46 on pinpoint. I thought I remember the silver dime ringing at 13.46 and staying on that number Id for the 90 degree pinpoint swing.

Thank you for your reply, I know I'm on the right track at least.
