Ok so I just got Back from the bank, I wanted a box of nickels but she said she couldn't give me one. Instead she said I could have 50 in nickels and 50 in dimes. I wasn't very happy because I thought the chance of finding silver in cwr dimes is slim to none. About 4 rolls in I thought I didn't have anything, until I spilled out the roll. I couldn't believe my eyes. How funny is that my first ever dime and it's a barber! Lesson: don't only edge check because I probably would have missed it if I didn't spill out the roll. And the good thing is I still have more of the same rolls so I might find something else! Hh

That's a nice looking haircut you got there Silver Searcher! I haven't found a Barber dime before but I really don't search dimes. Looks to be in good shape.

wow that's awesome for $50 in dimes, and also for your first silver! I have done probably $20,000-$40,000 in dimes and still have yet to find a barber. way to get a good start :icon_thumright:

Thanks, I think tomorrow I'm going to go back and ask to buy all of the dimes wrapped in those rolls (the roll I found that in was different from all of the others). I've also done lots of dimes and not found much. My best luck is with halves and war nickels.

Nicely done there SS. The second photo hides any mintmark. If it's an "S"; less than 1M were minted. Regardless, mucho kudos.

Wow great find! And a heck of a first dime keeper. And it looks to be in great condition too. Looks like it would probably grade about Fine condition. I bought some common date Barber dimes in similar condition on ebay recently and paid about $5 a piece for them. But its always so much sweeter finding them @ face.....if u can find 'em! :)

H$H!

Nice Barber dime!! Don't see many in that condition in rolls!!!

2 questions

1. Why would you have missed it edge searching? Silver is silver - unless its really dirty its pretty hard to miss. I always date check the ones I'm unsure of (dirty/worn/corroded etc)

2. Why would you assume you wouldn't have luck with CWR of dimes? I know many on here (including myself) who only hunt CRW's. 2 words - collection dump

1. You're right about silver standing out like a sore thumb, but the edge of that barber had a dirty copper look to it, it wasn't silver at all. If I didn't look at the black ones I would of thought it was just a 80s dime covered in dirt.
2. I'm not sure why I always assumed that, but I've always figured common sense would tell anyone that when you see 49 shiny new dimes with Roosevelt on them, and 1 from 1915 with a woman on it it might be worth keeping. I guess that's not the case though. It just kind of amazes me that something like that would be in circulation still.
Did you find all of those Mercs in rolls? If so that's really good.

All those dimes were found the same day/same bank.

in a lot cases it a jilted ex-wife does the deed.

If that's the case Id say she did the deed to herself as well. If all she's going get is an exchange of worthless fiat currency @ fv for her husbands real money she might just as well throw the coins in the trash. Whereas if she @ least had the sense to take the coins to a coin shop or sell them quickly on CL she could at least get closer to the current intrinsic value. Although she'd still be getting paid in worthless fiat currency. Whether its a scorned vengeful woman or some other bank customer or most bank employees themselves, its clear more than 99% of the population has no concept whatsoever about money and its such monetary ignorance as this that continues to make the CRHing hobby profitable for us.

Nice dime score btw.
