We moved to a place we had researched & found some Archaeological data that indicated a linear enclosure & nearby 1 Roman Coin.
This area turned out to be a dud, many do, because the table top info on the cropmark has no evidence to back it up. In this case it was probably Bronze Age.
So I used my usual hound-dog senses & headed to a corner of the field that looked inviting. When I got there, I got a piece of lead & the soil was darker, so we spent a bit of time & got the few bits below including the scarce Irish silver!

So how many "Pounds Sterling" (240 pence right?) worth of old hammered silver do think you and your father have found thus far? Could probably buy quite a bit if you went back in time with your trove!
