What a great day (OK, four days ago).

Hit a private farm for some additional digging. Had a banner day. I found a 24lb ground burst, gun wrench, Macon arsenal bullet, knife, small hammer, and a bunch of other stuff. The guy I was hunting with found an unexploded Schenkle shell. That was awesome to watch.

Looking to reconstruct the 24lb cannonball. Don't think I have ALL the pieces. The box only weighed in at 16lbs of iron.

Encouraged by all the big frags we are finding as well as the Schenkle. Perhaps there are a few more unexploded rounds somewhere out there.

Very good day! Lot of frags. I still want to find a frag. My father found a base to an artillery shell near me. That's as close as I've gotten lol

Killer stuff....... literally ha ha. Congrats.:icon_thumleft:

VERY nice. hey! I think I recognize that tailgate!

Great recoveries!

im almost certain that the chain with the ring on the end came off a foot hold trap.the swivel in it is a dead giveaway.it must be old because ive never seen that type of swivel..with your permission i can show the pics to some friends and maybe find out how old and what type of trap it was on.

go right ahead and share fishdaddy. i had someone else say it was a swivel link from a trace chain. this was found on a battlefield.

That is a SWEET frag reconstruction project!!! Always nice when you can find a ground-burst one to piece back together. LOVE the gun tool and of course the complete schenkl.

Cheers,

Buck
