Stopped by an antique mall late yesterday afternoon. As soon as I start looking around, I spotted a shiny Peace Flask in a case that looked like a reproduction. I started to walk away, but something looked different about this one, the spout looked very well made, so I decided to have the case opened for a closer look. As soon as it was handed to me I saw the name Batty, inspectors initials and the date 1847. I thought, wow, this thing has been polished, but it’s real! But here’s the best part, it was priced at $22.95. But wait, the story gets better, the mall owner tells me that this dealer has a 20% off sale! I bought an original Batty Peace flask (in near mint condition) for 19 bucks and change! Someone had polished it to make it look pretty, and then sprayed a clear coat on it to keep it shiny. I stripped off the clear coat when I got home, now to let it tarnish on its own. Not a metal detecting find, but it sure made my day....[emoji16]

Maybe it was just maintained like it was originally meant to be so it would provide many years of service?

Great find! You might consider getting a sling made.

You could be right, it’s in amazing condition. And yes, a sling would look nice on it.

Awesome find I always thought those are one of the coolest finds that get posted and most of those are squished great job on that I like it polished if it is polished if just in good condition. That would be amazing either way. Well done. Tommy

Amazing find, Tommy! That does look better than one that's been driven over by tractors and pickups for 150-200 years! Really special.

Thanks Tommy, I would love to dig one, but this was a pretty cool find, even if I did find it in an antique mall....[emoji4]
