Bazooka Gold Trap Question

I just bought the 36" prospector recently and was thinking of making a portable highbanker kit for it so I can use it in areas with little water movement. I was thinking of 3/4 inch inner diameter PVC pipe cut to length to slip over the inside intake ports for the fluid bed, and a spray bar for the top at the front of the slick plate. I would plumb it all up to one hose going to the bilge pump. The pump I have is 12 volt 1,000 gph. That would be powered by a battery charger. I already modified the grissly bars like I read in astrobouncer's post because the gold here is tiny. Does this idea sound feasible? All of this will fit into my backpack as well.

myself I'd just cut a bazooka sized hole in a storage container and add water until you get a good flow over the top. Tip to adjust angle of the dangle.

the pump is the issue for me. Need more water.

I have the 48" prospector and my plan is to build a header type box that fits on the intake end that is removable. The water will feed in from the top and a gate will control how much flow goes over the upper deck. I am looking at a 2,000-4,000 gph electric pump for the horsepower.

The beauty is you just need to replicate creek/river flow. no need to control what goes in the bottom, Have it wide open. The 4 inch drop will pressurize them tubes.
That said I think you'll need a 3 inch gas pump for the water at something like 15000 GPH (or more, I haven't made it to H Depot to rent one yet).
You just need a feces-ton of water filling up your header, the right angle, and enough water going over the top plate to clear your stones. Can't wait for the BGT Kits (don't say it three times or Todd's ghost will haunt you forever. They're working on it! )

my only concern was being able to use it in as many places as possible and being as quiet as possible. I go prospecting to get away from the noise and smells of civilization. Trying to stay away from gas if possible...lol.

Just get a long hose for your pump. I agree with Prospector 70.... Your going to need more h2o.

Both Todd and Chris are not quick buck artists. They only want to produce quality products. If it does not meet their high standards they won't sell it to you. That's why you don't see many Bazookas on the used market.

Mas Agua. Dig this example, I have a 1000 GPH pump and the blue bowl pump (less than 1000 GPH 750 I think) This barely provides enough wa wa for the keene.
I think maybe if you have 3 or 5 5000 gph pumps you may get close...

Looks very turbulant. Maybe a crash box in the front of the flange to create constant flow over the riffles. :? Just a thought. I love that it works though!

Either way your gonna need a gas motor correct? Skip the electric pump and use a 2" trashpump with one gated "y" off the discharge for flow control to a dual chambered headerbox. Plenty of flow. Upper section fed with 2"- no reduction, reduce feed tolower side to 1" off the "y" for increased pressure. Lower chamber funneled into baffles that connect to the fluidbed feed tubes. Upper section open with long curtain or maybe a wallpaper brush to spread out the flow.

Ima get one of those 50 buck 3700 gph bilge pumps doc raves about from amazon. That will do the flow nicely on the keene re-circulatory system with a governor.
I was looking for a 10 inch waterfall spillway, that would be ideal, just tuck the sluice up under it and go nuts. found an 8 incher at home d for 25 bucks. the hunt continues.
I could probably get away with the slightly less than 2k per hour I'm getting now with the keene if I reduce the angle.
I'm only doing this to get rid of the 4 or 5 gallons worth of con's I have in my garage so I don't want to go nuts hehe.
It's just a couple of storage tubs and a intek pool pump I had in the basement so far, so I'm not doing too bad. TBH I'll have that spillway figured out soon and will post pics of it running without the crazy water action.

For the bazooka higbanker you'll need way more water than that, like fowledup said, a gas motor, I'm thinking you'll need something like 15K GPH to have it flow correctly. Untested of course. Maybe a sniper highbanker may be more efficient pump wise.
