beach coins.formula for sinking?

Is there a formula for coins sinking so much a year? For example a coin lost in the 1800s would sink 1 inch every 10 years?Any ideas?

it depends.........some soil conditions can keep coins from sinking very deeply at all (clay,rocky,tightly grown together roots),in other soil types coins sink rapidly (grassy sandy soil).add into the fray thawing and freezing, decomposing leaves, erosion and you can see that its hard to nail it down to a science.ive dug clad at 8" and i dug a 1781 spanish half reale at 1". there really is no universal formula.
