Happens that way to a lot of people I've hunted with. Once they took a break the beginners luck streak ended. Don't stop until you need a vault! Sent from my iPhone using TreasureNet

Well I had zero luck today but it was still a beautiful morning.

Very nice find!! I'm gonna go with the ring size of "12" and of course "PLAT" is platinum. I think it was the precious metal act of 1974 that required specific markings. It allows makers to mark rings "PLAT" as long as they are .950 platinum. Anything less they have to mark .900 or .925.

Hey thanks again guys. I don't have a scale yet. I found it in the wet sand about 3" down. It rang a solid 65. Very lucky!

Trent67, dropping the "L" hurt! Been out to Hollywood beach a few times this year, it is hit and miss, but any day at the beach is better than one at work!

Found it in the wet sand right at the water. Yeah, a lot of bottle caps, pull tabs, and can slaw for sure.

So I finally got the ring appraised and that 12 next to the PLAT was the size. The ring was valued at $5100! Too bad I wont get close to that when I sell it, lol. What a great feeling it was pulling that thing out of the surf. This hobby is so addicting. I can be up at 5:30 a.m. having my coffee with no plans to go detecting and then I will get on my iPad and just check the tides for the heck of it. Next thing you know I am out the door and on the beach swinging, lol. I do need to get a new beach scoop though. I bought one that didnt have a reinforced kicker brace. Just the one handle right to the scoop. Well 2 months in and it is falling apart. Live and learn.
