Strong winds this last week with high tides have cut back the beaches & the dune lines alone the treasure coast!! And the good thing is that there coming back this weekend they say...Wabasso beach is almost cut to the road ..Normandy beach has some 8' plus cuts south of the entrance..BathTub beach is also cut to the park driveway & undercut the walkways & the two houses next to it..There was a lot of sand pumped in after the two storms a few years back, but you never know!!!!!! :o

Neither the beaches north of Normandy nor colored beach show these cuts. Remember, the beaches south of Normandy have been heavily "renourished" at least twice recently, and many of the other St. Lucie County beaches received the same CRAP from some inland borrow pit. Totally incompatible beach material. The beaches along the condos were extremely steep..too steep for the material to remain. The natural slope of ANY beach is proportional to the aggregate size the beach material. Even as coarse as the replacement crap is, it will still not support that "angle of repose".

Bathtub is an isolated localized phenomenon, and I'm not sure of the exact cause. In any case, the cuts are great news. Just be careful..that 8' cut at Normandy is still in unnatural crap.

I'm extremely disappointed with the "renourishment" that has occured along our beautiful east coast shoreline. The Corps of Engineers and local governments have virtually destroyed the very area they were attempting to preserve. They have apparently disregarded all knowledge of beach mechanics.
