Hello all! I had a great first DIV & saved some very nice relics. The highlight of the hunt was the sword belt plate, it was almost 2ft deep!!! It's a great feeling to see that coming out of the ground! This was a variety that had the applied silver wreath which is now gone although you can see evidence of it. I also really like the 1863 Springfield musket lock plate. I found a nice variety of other relics as well. There were some amazing relics found at this hunt, I will definitely do this again. The weather & company couldn't have been better! Thanks for looking & HH!

Lol, it stands for Diggin in Virginia, it's an organized hunt put on twice a year at historic Civil War sites.

That's a killer haul. That plate is beautiful. That's some very good ground. Is there a lot of other relics coming out of the ground at these hunts?

Love that plate Josh! That red dirt sure gave it a nice green patina. Nice going!

Oh my, great recoveries. I'm curious as I've hunted that hot dirt myself. Did the AT Pro sniff that plate out at 2 feet?

Oh no.... I borrowed a GPX5000 from a buddy that couldn't make it. The at pro would've never seen it.

grey lock, you wouldn't believe the finds. At least 6 CS tongues from one field. The find of the hunt was 3 gold coins ($20, $5 & 2.50) & 5 seated halves found under a breast plate!

Ok, just wondering. My hunting partner actually found a US plate with his AT Pro at the Spilman Farm a year or so ago. But it was only about 4" deep.

some people actually did better with the VLFs than some using the GPX. Just gotta get your coil over it, right time right place.

Know of a couple Guy's who hit the DIV hunt again this past weekend , most use one of the GPX Series Machines Or a TDI.
As you said the VLF's work "you just gotta get your coil over the Good Stuff"

Maybe folks Don't post much DIV stuff , Cause of the mentioning other Digging Sites Rule.

Heard guy's talking about the Gold Coins Found & the CS " Plates they said" & Debating on Witch on they would Rather
Find . I think the $20 Gold Piece Won Out.

I hope to Do a DIV someday .. But The Wife Complains about me Hunting around home so much ,Going to Va, would likely cause a Divorce .LOL

Davers

Sorry Got on a Rant.. Awesome Plate Find & Other Great relics as well.
