Went to the dump today and found an old toolbox full of junk. Among the junk I found two knives - one was a cheap stiletto-style lockback - the other was a legit 1960's Valor Stiletto switchblade! Took them both home and washed them until they got all shiny like new (they were very very dirty when I found them). Unfortunately the spring of the Valor Stiletto is missing so it doesn't open when you press the button ( I think this may have been done intentionally by the previous owner so as to make it legal?) Anyway it's still really cool, never found one before. Maybe one day I will find a new spring for it.

Later at the grocery store I checked the coinstar machine and the coin return was full of change - two quarters, two dimes, a nickel, 10 pennies, and one 2010 "1 Piso" from the Philippines. :D

Switchblade was made that way. Right at the end of legality, imported knives were made so that the button didn't work 1960's. They could be imported and sold legally and people still bought them because they locked into place. No Bucks back then. We would go to Mexico in the 60's (150 miles) and buy real working ones for $5 or so. White handle or black handle. We just hid them in the car and came back. Never got searched. Wish I still had them. Might still sell them. Bought them on the street. Thought we were real outlaws. Adult bar hopping, Carta Blanca longnecks for $.25 and $5 for a woman. Remember now, all we really could afford to drink in San Antonio was either Lone Star or Pearl. Iwas 15-16 years old then. Still a great find though...

That's a great day. I love dump hunting and CoinStar treasure.

My son and a friend were picking through a dump when they were about 8 or 9. They found an old cane that they later found out contained a hidden sword. The really cool part is that it was a very ornate and high quality Nazi sword from Germany. You just never know what may turn up.
