Before the freeze

The freeze of T-net I mean. I managed to get out for a much needed hunt last week. Withs temps in the high 40's I had to go out and cut plugs. Finds weren't epic, but it was just good to get out. Finds included a cool looking buckle, an old ring, and a nice old "blow hole" button. Along with a couple other gimmies, it was swell.



How about a buckle I.D. Can anyone date the buckle shown in the pic?

Nice finds Mike. I think I have seen those relics before-Oh yeah, you sent me a pic-LOL. Is that a shoe buckle perhaps. Glad you could put that Minelab to work. Which model did you use this time? HH, Quindy.

Hi My Fellow TH'ers
I like your nice finds. I would guess that they are from a late 1700 to early 1800 Colonial site. I searched a site where my fellow TH'ers and I found around 100 flat buttons that looked just like the ones that you have in your picture and the best part is after searching the area for the better part of a year we have recovered more than a dozen coins the newest being a 1809 US Half Cent and the oldest that we could date for sure was a silver 1736 Spanish Reale. Some of the other coins include a 1796 and 1798 US Large Cent, a 1805 and 1808 US Half Cent. The foreign coins include a 1754 Irish Penny, and several large cent size coins with no details. Our thoughts are that this site was destroyed during the War of 1812 as no coins at the site were from after 1809. The site is within 30 miles of Washington, DC and along the route that the British would have traveled on their way towards Leesburg, VA. Now please remember this is merely our thoughts about the site and is not based on any known facts or research.

Well you asked for our thoughts about the possible date and there you have it! My WAG! (Wild Azz Guess!)

I have a buckle exactly the same as that one that I dug out of a home in the city of Richmond. So I think it would be maybe from the 1920ish. But other than that I'm not real sure.

Just catching up from my trip. Nice relics there Bud. Anything stamped on the inside of that ring like 14k, 18k? I've found a few of those old wedding bands in the past at some of my CW spots that were stamped, but clearly not real gold.
As far as that buckle, I have one just like that too but I can't recall from which spot I had dug it. (old age)
