Belemnite maybe?

Could this be a belemnite? It is in a red agate, or chert, type stone from the Coalinga area of California. The area where I found it is an old reef with lots of sponge fossils & shells. The shape looks too perfect to be a natural occurance in the rock.

It very well could be I have some samples from wyoming that are not in the matrix.
some people I asked called them Squid tails....I see why after looking on the net many years ago.
