Black sand layers in Alaska beach sand, can be a rich strike hit the right one, they can be thin yet very rich in gold at the same time.

GPAA for more than a decade, had Nome Alaska trips. Never went there myself... sure would have liked to though. GPAA would section off little mini claims to divide beach area. Each person in their own space, digging to hit a good black sand layer. Sluice boxes were used to process the beach material.

I only saw the Old Man using dowsing rods in the Past.
I thought this was Shawn's first time using them on the Show.

personally I feel he was on the gold since day 1 and faked it for the drama to continue

I'd heard other TN members mention it but don't remember who had done it. Amount of gold for season... sounded like a lot (unless exaggerated). Apparently, he kept the rods secret until near the end of season.

the GPAA Has gone to Hell.
I Used to like every other year they had a Gold and Treasure Show in South Eastern PA.
Probably Pushing 10 Years now they haven't come Back.
so no reason to join again.

looks like Columbus, OH, 400 mile away may be the closest this year.
not gonna travel 9- 10 hours for a 2 day event

talked to a guy that went on a GPAA trip, he was mad because they wouldn't let him pick his own spot on the beach.
That is one sticking point, not to mention a couple more things I'd have problems with... especially, when people opt out of digging/sluicing for road improvement work instead of getting the gold for a split.

Western states it's nice if you have a claim to go on, you have GPAA and other prospecting clubs with gold claims, often same area. If I ever moved to a southwestern state, I'd want to join a couple of them.
