I found this group in/around Winchester about a month ago. There is plenty left for us "latecomers". The small star button stumped me until someone posted the same button about three weeks ago. He said it was a kepi button from Wharton's Texans...I found it behind Handley High School, which is Bower's Hill. I looked up Wharton's Brigade on Cornell University's Civil War Records site, and low and behold, it said that Wharton's men were on Bower's Hill in the 1st Battle of Winchester.
