BEST DAY EVER!!!!! Saxon and Viking in one day!!!!!!!

well im still very much in shock went on a field i have been on many times with not much luck but today is the day!! first of all i found this Monster looking item i thought it was old looking got home gave it a wash and it looked better after, it has been ID as A VIKING bridle cheek piece in the Viking Ringerike !!

Then this beautiful coin popped up about 7 foot away from the VIKING item, my first thought was its old and not a normal coin i normally find,

Its been ID as Saxon penny of OFFA. DATED AD 765 - 792

This is the best day of my metal detecting life thanks for LOOKING!!

Well you wanted a rare coin & you got the double bonus of condition. Most mortals will never get one, then add the Cheek Piece which is very well executed with well defined features & you have a double banner day, I voted already.

Coin - start at £2000 & as SS states to the right person £?,

I would love to fill that offa hole in the collection but I have as much chance of getting a roman Gold

At least you are in the right neck of the woods I have fat chance of finding one

Lets not bring logic into this, we all know things appear where they shouldn't be & are harder to find where they should. You never know, stranger things have happened, but reality says we both stand no chance

The cheek piece on a good day would be close to £100. As far as my study of these go, this type have never been found complete, now that would be the big one!

On the old database there is only 3 recorded, I'm guessing by now that maybe 5 have been, but it will be a below 10 for sure which is a hard thing to achieve on any coin

Yes but the fact is outhers don't this is why Jimmy needs to add information about the rarity of the finds he has made, some of the boys across the pond, won't know the significance of the finds

some days are better than others but most days consist of buttons shotgun cartridges and lead . this man is probably still trying to believe the rarity of the things he has just found both of these pieces are as rare as rocking horse poo
