Best find of 2009 for me...1904 World's Fair Padlock by Fireroad

I've been lurking on here for a while and this is my first post. I've always been digging in the ground since I was a kid. I've had a few detectors over the years but never spent much time detecting. I picked up a White's XLT this year with the hopes of getting out and finding some early coins. I did ok but found nothing spectacular. Most of my hunt's were short, an hour or so after work or on the way home since I travel quite a bit. I found this lock near the site of an old General Store. It was about 4 inches down. It was crusty but when I saw the design I knew I had an interesting find. This is the lock after I cleaned it, sorry I have no pics before but this find was before I discovered this website. These locks were sold at the 1904 World's Fair, an advertising piece for the lock company (Eagle Lock Co.). I don't know if it's banner but I wanted to share it with the group.

Welcome to T-Net. That is a great looking lock. I sure wish this wasn't your first post, it would look great on the banner.

Definately the coolest padlock I've ever seen. :icon_thumleft: That is one set of ears on the guy at the bottom. Poor old "miss world" looks like her figure's seen better days also! :D
