Mindblowing collection! I was always spooked to try hunting in France due to the WW1 ordenance in the ground. I did find a few French coins in Germany though. My oldest was a 1698 in rough shape.

Hi

Many thank you for your comments !
I'm glad you like it.

:notworthy:

bravo james, glad that you've been able to find a Douzain in your country :hello:

In my area we must be wary of the battlefield, do not dig the ferrous !
No problem with eperience and a good detector...but always dig carefuly.

Cordially,
Philippe.

I love all that old silver! You had an awesome year detecting! The Roman Sesterce is simply beautiful! I have just one question......you say you believe the 50 coins dated 1792 to 1840 were lost by one of Napoleon's soldiers, but an 1840 coin would not fit into Napoleon's time frame?

Thanks Steve :notworthy:

It is just a speculation on my part, all these coins were valid at the beginning of the empire of Napoleon III (1850)

Something crazy but currencies revolution of 1792 were very loved by the people and some have circulated until 1914 :read2:
The others in Silver also some value in these troubled times...

I may be wrong and we must see the savings of a civilian of the reign of Louis Philippe in 1840 :dontknow:

Sorry for my limited english, i hope you understand my answer...
Cordially,
Philippe.

Hi all

Thanks all for comments :hello2: :hello2:

All my discoveries come from the wood. In the woods finds are often in better condition...
I really like the atmosphere of the woods, they hide many wonderful things :headbang:

A little offtopic, sorry. Can You tell me something about detecting in France? As i understand detecting is not allowed for the public. Or is this only for battlefields? I would like to bring my XP when i visit France the next time...
