While waiting to hear from Kellyco, regarding my problematic MD, I'm still trying to use it every day, such as it is.
Still nothing to report but trash, but this 4" steel ring from this morning's hunt is the best trash yet. From a logging
chain, I would imagine. Almost worth keeping...

I have found a handful of these, of varying sizes. Most of them were about the size of yours but about two of them were only about an inch and a half in diameter. My dad seems to thing they are from horse bridles.

That crossed my mind, but I didn't think they'd be quite this big if they
were some kinda horse gear, but I really don't know. I'm just guessing. :dontknow:

Just so you know, some of those were also used as stacker rings for stands of grape shot during the Civil War. There would be a flat bottom plate, 3 grape balls, a ring, another 3 grape, another ring, then another plate; with a rope handle holding the whole piece together. You never know what iron trash could be!
