"Better Gun Control Measures".......this is actually a pretty broad proposal. It has amazed me at how quickly some people have assumed this is going to infringe on their right to bear arms. Better gun control measures might mean something as simple as making gun owners more responsible for the firearms they possess. It might also mean better tracking of firearms, etc., etc., etc., none of which have infringed upon our right to bear arms. Under these examples, and as a law abiding citizen, I will still be able to go buy a firearm, so why the instant uproar over the talk of better gun control measures when we don't even know what those possible proposals will be? So far, all the uproar has just been fueled by assumption and fear. Sure, there is talk of this and that, just has there has always been talk of this and that in the past. Nothing new about any of it. So, wouldn't it be much better to wait and see what those actual proposals might entail before we assume the worst and start holding debates over proposals that don't even exist other then in the heads of pure speculation and fear. It's only when these true proposals are actually put on paper that we have anything to truly debate. So far, not a single new measure has been introduced into the process, and yet so many still living in fear of the ultimate and none existent. In a country said to be full of rational, reasonable men, I find this most amazing. A few living in fear cry wolf and so that same wolf and fear instantly becomes a reality to many. Absolutely amazing.
So, let's even go a step further: other then those amendments that have taken place to insure that the rights one cannot infringe upon another, can anyone list an example of a right contained within the Constitution or Bill of Rights that has been completely taken away from this country's citizens?
