While out Detecting today
I Put my alkaline Pack
in my back Pocket & Forgot about it.

Was sitting here Prepairing My Finds Post
& My Leg Got Warm. Looked down
to see if There was heat coming
from Somwhere & No.

All of a sudden I Felt Burning & Smelt Plastic Burning.

I Rememberd the Battery pack & Pulled it
Out, it looked like it was about to
Burst into Flames.

There was no Coins in my Pocket.

I bet either a zipper, or button came in contact with the connections. Glad your o.k.

Nothing was in my back Pocket but the Pack,
and the connection end was faceing downward
so I wouldn't loose the connector strip.

But I hear they can Explode.

Thanks !

MINELAB E TRAC, EXCAL2,QUATTRO,WHITE 6000 DI PRO SL,EAGLE SPECTRUM,SILVER UMAX ,BANDIDO UMAX VARIOUS VINTAGE
yes, i had this happen recently with a 9v nimh rechargeable.

i was lucky enuf to catch the problem just as it was getting pretty

warm.and yes i had a couple coins in my pocket.

i was mighty pissed. but after it cooled it seemed ok.

have recharged several times now.seem ok

this is a planned mistake they count on u making. which is why u dont see

little battery storage bags for sale along w batteries.

i solved my problem with a small velvet drawstring type bag made for jewelry
