I dug this up in Big Bear Ca. In a area called Holcomb Valley which was a gold Mining area during the Gold Rush.
It’s shaped like a bullet and is heavy. It looks like it’s broken in half. I’d appreciate any information.

I thought Holcomb Valley was off limits to detecting. Last time I was up there rangers hassled us for rock hounding. Might want to do some checking before showing off your finds.

Hey digger did you get confused on who said what??

Grab a hot chocolate and sit next to the fire and I'll tell you about the u.s. training individuals from a communist Island to overthrow a dictator. Everyone thought they were training by the coast, but they were actually close to Holcomb Valley. Yep we bumbled into the whole thing. They came & left via El Toro.

Thank I’ll check on that.
Yes, and it has land scars, the bullet was fired from a weapon with "rifling" ... for better accuracy.
Thank you

I just got back from a Big Bear prospecting trip on a private claim , The ranger just waved at us as he went by , Several miners had metal detectors in there hands ranger did not seam to mind it is a Mining Claim just fill in you holes , With over 1000+ mining claims in the area , Rock climbing , Off Roading , Campers , I don't think they worry about that to much I may be wrong , Anyway Camping was Great Hi - 75' low- 45' .
The claim looked like a old Artillery range with Dig holes every 10-20 ft , Old timers worked this area 3-4 times , Steam shovel , Dragline , loaders , Mexicans .
You could find Micron Gold anywhere you dig just not much of it , To wet to drywash had to use my cleanup sluice to run all the dirt & keeping the water clear was not easy , Did find a dig hole with some gravel that we worked the rest of the time .
Had a Great time . some photos =
